Pannonica by Hopler Red Blend - Burgenland

P red

"Pannonica" is a referece to our heritage: Pannonia - once a province of the Roman Empire, bounded North and East by the river Danube. A touch of smoke precedes notes of ripe, black cherries and baked plums whose fruit becomes even fleshier on the rounded, fruit-forward and rather juicy palate of this blend. Tannins are very soft. Fresh acidity keeps the rounded fruit in check. A blend of Pinot Noir, St. Laurent and Blaufränkisch

Meet Christof Hopler - Winemaker

Christof studied Business Administration at Vienna University intent on pursuing a career in banking. His astute business sense alerted him to the fact that working in his father’s wine business during his studies enhanced his financial and, naturally, his social quality of life. Founded by Jost Hopler in the 1980's, his son Christof (pictured) is now winemaker and runs the everyday operations of the winery. Their 50ha of vineyards lie in the Leithaberg Hills on the shores of Lake Neusiedl.
