Hopler Gruner Veltliner - Burgenland

gruner

Gruner Veltliner is marked by its mineral character, a light green tinge, yellow apple scents and citrus flavours. The nose exudes aromas of peach, roses, apricot and lime while the palate is predominantly citrus with a white pepper finish. GV is enjoying massive popularity particularly in the USA where it is seen as a characterful alternative to Sauvignon Blanc.  It is particularly suitable as an aperitif or when served as an accompaniment to cold starters, pastas and salads.

Meet Christof Hopler - Winemaker

Christof studied Business Administration at Vienna University intent on pursuing a career in banking. His astute business sense alerted him to the fact that working in his father’s wine business during his studies enhanced his financial and, naturally, his social quality of life. Founded by Jost Hopler in the 1980's, his son Christof (pictured) is now winemaker and runs the everyday operations of the winery. Their 50ha of vineyards lie in the Leithaberg Hills on the shores of Lake Neusiedl.
